DARIA HALPRIN
BODY POETIC
Pieces by Daria Halprin
If my legs and feet could speak
Another kind of walking meditation
Ode to your movement
By Daria Halprin from Dance, Somatics and Spirituality: Contemporary Sacred Naratives
The day after, I find you again
Still dancing inside the costume of your skin,
Still finding the steps of your feet in the rhythm of your breath.
I watch you shifting between reflected pools of sunlight and shadow on the floor.
I feel you, still so alive in the aftermath of your life's storm.
Rain drops glistening on your heart,
Tree branches fallen across your rib bones.
Breaking through the silent empty space
You trace each birth and death
As you come and go,
Rise and fall.
And in the path of your dance
Is left behind
Something so utterly profound
And so utterly simple,
That even God falls in love
With us again.
